Maggie Johnson, MA LPCC
Hi!
I’m Maggie (she/her/hers), a licensed professional clinical counselor and BBHT board approved supervisor for those pursuing LPC/LPCC licensure in the state of Minnesota.
I work with individuals (ages 18+) on a variety of topics/goals, but particularly enjoy working with folks who are diagnosed/identify as neurodivergent and those who have a experienced trauma. As a trained EMDR clinician, I integrate these techniques and tools into my sessions, acknowledging that trauma can be in the big moments and the small.
You can expect that during a session with me, I will do my best to understand you and your context, meet you with warmth and compassion, and encourage you towards your goals.
When I’m not in the office, I love spending time with my family (including a boisterous golden retriever who sometimes joins virtual sessions), baking whatever Instagram recipe came across my feed that week, or tinkering in my garden and pretending I have a green thumb!

My Specialties
As a therapist, I practice from a grounded, relational, and warm approach utilizing a variety of techniques and tools.
-
Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a therapeutic modality based on the Adaptive Information Processing model that allows individuals to reflect on past traumatic moments, reprocess them, and ultimately decrease the distress and internal activation they feel.
-
The Internal Family Systems (IFS) model is a therapeutic approach that views the mind as made up of different "parts," each with its own thoughts, emotions, and purpose. Through developing awareness of and relationships with these internal parts within ourselves, IFS helps individuals understand emotional patterns, heal past wounds, and respond to life's challenges with greater balance and calm.
-
Attachment Theory is a therapeutic framework that explores how early relationships with caregivers shape patterns of emotional connection, trust, and security throughout life. In therapy, understanding a person's attachment style can help identify relational patterns, strengthen emotional regulation, and foster healthier, more secure relationships with oneself, others, and the world around you.
-
As a neurodiversity-affirming therapist, I view ADHD, autism, and other forms of neurodivergence as natural variations in how people think, learn, and experience the world rather than conditions that need to be "fixed." Therapy is tailored to your individual strengths, challenges, and goals, using practical strategies and self-acceptance to support emotional well-being and improve daily functioning.
